Ben Lamb, who made a very impressive run this past summer earning just under $5.5 million in about a month, has received two awards that make him part of elite company. Lamb stormed through the 2011 World Series of Poker and captured 1st place honors in the Pot Limit Omaha Championship. In addition to his first place finish, Lamb also recorded impressive finishes in Pot Limit Omaha (2nd), No Limit Hold’em (12th), Poker Players Championship (8th), and No Limit Hold’em World Championship where he finished in 3rd place and received prize money totaling just over $4 million. Thanks to that impressive run, which spanned from June 17th until July 7th, Ben Lamb was named the World Series of Poker Player of the Year. His accolades have doubled now, because recently Lamb was also given the honor of also being named Card Player Magazine Player of the Year as well. His first POY award comes as no surprise because Ben dominated this past WSOP, but in years past a player usually could not pull off both awards by simply resting on a stellar WSOP performance, but I guess this is not the typical year. I think Lamb was able to be given two POY awards not because of the amount of money he won, but rather the time frame in which he did it. He earned more cash winnings in 3 weeks than most players do in 2 or 3 years, which is impressive in its own rite. Lamb is only the second player in history to be given both awards in the same year. The man that stands beside him in this honor, Daniel Negreanu, is a household name at this point, and if Ben Lamb even comes close to the same milestones he achieved this year, next year, he will be on the path to becoming the world’s most well-known poker player. One might say that he is on the way to Phil Ivey or Chris Moneymaker status if he keeps these results up.We will continue to monitor his results here at www.toptenpokersites.org and keep you updated on any further accomplishments coming his way.
