The final table action started with Xizhen Huang as the chip leader. Nguyen came in third, just one big blind behind Chak Lam Tsang. The latter enjoyed a slight boost to his chip stack when he eliminated Jiniong Hu in 9th place for $17,764.

Nguyen then went into action, cracking Satoshi Kuriga’s pocket aces with A4. Kuriga ended his run in 8th place, earning $22,608. Next to go was Julian Warhurst who took home $29,010 for his 7th-place finish.

Nguyen went on to bust three players consecutively – Jaeho Lee (6th, $37,700), Philip Nguyen (5th, $49,457) and Yuhan Liu (4th, $65,559). Start-of-day chip leader Huang was eliminated next, finishing 3rd for $87,753.

Nguyen entered heads-up play against Tsang with a massive chip lead which extended to 5:1 during the final stages of the one-on-one match. In the final hand, Nguyen held Ac10h versus the Jc8c of Tsang on a QsJh8h9h board. Tsang got no help from the 4c river to settle for 2nd place with $118,637 in winnings.

It’s been a great year for Nguyen’s poker career so far, as he also won a high roller event at the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Phu Quoc back in March for $34, 234. All in all, the Vietnamese player has scored four final table finishes thus far in 2023, including the two recent victories.

With his latest win, Nguyen now has almost $220,000 in live tournament cashes.
