Back in March, PokerStars put together a fairly unique online tournament series known as MicroMillions. The series featured exclusively low buy-in tournaments, and they occurred in rapid succession, with 100 different events taking place over the course of ten days. Now, PokerStars has announced that the second version of this series will take place in July, when MicroMillions II will once again shine a spotlight on micro-stakes action. The MicroMillions II will begin on July 12, and will last until July 23. Over the course of those 12 days, there will once again be 100 different events, with buy-ins as low as $0.11. Most of the action will center around no limit hold’em, but Omaha, Stud, and mixed games will all get their moments in the sun as well.Just as in the first MicroMillions, there will be a Main Event that is very affordable, yet still awards large prizes to the top finishers. In the first edition of the tournament, that Main Event was won by a player from the Czech Republic known as Zabaleta1, who took home $140,000 after paying just $20 to participate in the tournament. In MicroMillions II, the Main Event will feature a $22 buy-in. There is a guaranteed $150,000 prize for first place, though, meaning even players who normally play at somewhat higher stakes might be willing to take a shot at this event in the hopes of making a big score. In addition, the tournament will take place over two days, giving it that “high stakes” feel that many small buy-in tournaments lack.At the moment, the MicroMillions II schedule is still considered provisional, though we don’t expect to see any major changes before the dates and times become official. Information on satellites to some of the costlier tournaments and the rules for the Player of the Series award will be announced in the coming weeks.
