The final table has been reached at the European Poker Tour’s Copenhagen Main Event, with Norway poker pro Aage Ravn holding a big chip lead heading into the final day of play. Ravn catapulted into the lead and now holds over 2.45 million in chips, almost a full million more than his closest competitor.Friday’s play at EPT Copenhagen featured 24 players vying for one of eight tickets into the final table. The tournament still featured a number of big names who had reached the deep stages of the event in excellent shape, including World Series of Poker Main Event runner-up Martin Staszko, American pro Steve O’Dwyer, defending EPT Copenhagen champion Michael Tureniec, and chip leader Pierre Neuville.Play on Friday was rather fast, taking only a little more than six hours to eliminate 16 players. Staszko was the first of the big names to fall, dropping in 16th place when his AK lost to the QQ of Lauri Varonen. The QJ8 flop gave Varonen a set, and though Staszko did have both straight and flush draws, the queens held up and sent Staszko to the rail. The defending champion would see his run end not long after. Despite a valiant effort, Tureniec wasn’t able to go back-to-back in Copenhagen, as his run ending in 11th place. Tureniec got his money in good, holding AK against AJ suited, but three hearts on the board gave his opponent a flush, ending his day.Despite the eliminations, some of the stars of the field did reach the final table. Neuville is still holding on in 5th place with 908,000 chips, while O’Dwyer comes into the final table in 7th place, holding a short stack of 453,000.The final table will be played out on Saturday, as the eight remaining players attempt to win the first prize of 2,515,000 Danish kroner – or approximately €340,000. Each player at the final table is guaranteed at least 191,400 DKK (about €25,700).
