The Poker Maximus event that is running on the Merge Gaming Network has really caught the attention of a lot of players. This past Sunday there was quite a few tournaments who had high buy ins but rewarded their players proportionately with even higher guarantees. Sunday saw individual tournaments with guarantees of $15,000, $10,000, $75,000, and a whopping $150,000.This series of tournaments is sticking with trends too because every single event on Sunday had prizepools that surpassed the original guarantee. The first event, the $30 No Limit Hold’em tournament with a guarantee of $15,000 attracted a total of 2,603 entrants and that boosted the prizepool up to over $78,000. Lock Poker pro Matt Stout finished in 4th place and walked away with over $4,800.The second event was another Hold’em event but the stakes were higher thanks to a $100 buy-in. The guaranteed prizepool of $150,000 was quickly surpassed as over 2,000 entrants forced the prizepool to reach over $200,000. The first place winner walked away with just under $34,000.The next tournament was supposed to be a rebuy tournament but was changed to a freezeout due to the extraordinary amount of players who registered. The guarantee was set at $10,000 but because almost 4,000 people registered the prizepool was boosted to nearly $40,000. In fact, the adjusted prizepool was almost $1,000 under $40,000 and the Merge Network covered the extra $1,000 to make the guaranteed prizepool 4 times the size it was originally planned to be.Finally, the action on Sunday wrapped up with a $200 buy-in tournament that was originally supposed to offer a prizepool of $75,000. 812 people registered for this event and the prizepool more than doubled to stand at a whopping $162,000. The first place winner in this event became the second person on the day to walk away with a first place prize that surpassed $30,000.As you can clearly see, the Poker Maximus tournament series is doing very well and is showing no signs of stopping. It is not too late to get in on the action either, head over to sites on Merge Network, like Lock Poker, and check it out for yourself.
